1. Perichondrium forms a cellular condensation along the periphery of the cartilagenous bones. This is followed by vascular invasion where the difeerentiation of chondrocytes into osteoblasts takes place. At that point a periosteum is said to exist. It begins producing a thin layer of bone known as bone bark. The bone bark encloses the nascent cartilagenous model and contributes to the width of the bone.
