Organisation development is use of behavioural science principles to enhance functional effectiveness of organisation. For its implementation the present scenario of an organisation is analysed along with organisation structure so as to take appropriate control action to improve the performance of organisation.

Generally organisational development practitioners work as an independent consultants.

Keen observation skills are required by organisational development practitioner so as to monitor the current behaviour of employees in an organisation and accordingly plant design and control all the parameters that would improve the organisational effectiveness. Through his observation skills he would be able to gather all the required data to plan an organisation re-design.For example the current rewarding system for high performance employee can be analysed and more effective performance rewarding system can be designed.

Along with observation skills the Other skills he might require are ability to evaluate the gathered data, effective diagnosis of data, seeking feedback after implementation of new organisation design, effective planning and implementation skill, regular follow up, communication and interpersonal skills, attracting new clients through effective marketing and ensure new clients are retained.
