dy to be installed, but first we need to close some apps. Update now This case study relates melanin to skin health. (10 pts) You are a clinician living in Alaska with 2 patients to treat. Patient 1:Mr. Tutio recently moved to Alaska from Ethiopia, in equatorial Africa. He has highly melanin pigmented black skin and dark eyes and hair inherited from his African ancestors Patient 2: Ms. Fogner is Finnish, her ancestry is Northern European. She is blonde, blue eyed and has lightly melanin pigmented pale skin. Ms. Fogner informs you that next month she will be moving to Ethiopia. In paragraph form explain to me IN YOUR OWN WORDS the advice you would give each patient. This advice should address how their skin pigmentation and changes in UV light exposure might affect their health as each has moved (or will move) to a new place on the globe. Be sure to fully EXPLAIN WHY (using the appropriate anatomical and physiological terminology) you have chosen this particular clinical advice for each patient. Your answer must be at least 250 words long. Again this should be in your own word, I will not accept answers or portions of answers that have been cut and pasted from the web. Explanation / Answer

first of all, let us take the case of Ms. Fogner. who is blonde or fair skin by inheritance she will be going to Ethiopia which is temperate at the plateau and hot in the lowlands overall the heat is very much prevailing so first the conditions

so these were the conditions. now lets get into the matter

The level of inherited skin pigmentation is referred to as constitutive pigmentation. A number of other factors determined at birth, for example the way a person’s body produces hormones.Extrinsic factors also influence skin colour and provide acquired pigmentation. Exposure to ultraviolet radiation is the most important extrinsic factor. The sun emits UVA and UVB rays and the different types of UV rays have different effects on skin pigmentation. Exposure to UVA rays produces immediate pigmentation by influencing melanin which has already been produced and is waiting in the skin’s upper layers. Pigmentation which occurs several days after sun exposure is a result of new melanin being produced in response to UVB exposure. Other extrinsic factors which influence skin pigmentation and colour include DNA damage (often induced by UVB exposure).

so it might happen that Ms. Fogner gets that brown skin color during her visit to Ethiopia because her melanin formation will be triggered but it may also so happen that her DNA remains damaged

now let us see the matter of Mr. tution, who is an African brown skin by inheritance. he is moving to Alaska which is one of the coldest regions on earth. so let us see his changes.

melanin is formed or its formation is triggered due to exposer to UV lights. but the amount of melanin in his body is already high so if he stays in Alaska where there is less sunlight for a long period it may so happen that he can get fairer. because the White skin is the result of permanent DNA damage. The DNA damage results in a failure of Melanocytes to produce Melanin when exposed to ultraviolet light.
