(20 points) 19. Annotated Graph for a Paragraph, 5 Lines forb Throughout the life-cycle of a typical project: a) Draw a curve showing potential "Interpersonal (Affctive) Conflict" and make notes (with a few words) showing your key reasons for the slope changes Project Progress nitiationPlanning Close-out Time Execution b) Assuming you will be hiring a management consultant to manage the project on a "cost-+fee" basis (i.e. paying per contractors' & suppliers' invoices + an agreed upon fee). Discuss why & when you would have conflicts with the consultant and what incentive/punishment could better align his/her goals with the project goals.

Explanation / Answer

the better plan for the firm is the one, which directly linked with the performance of the consultant and progress of the firm. if the progress is good, the pay also be good. If i were the project manager, i recruit a consultant whose fee or commission is directly links with the progress of the project. In this, the consultant is the resonsible one to the process right from the begining to the end of the process.

It does not mean that we do nothing and completely depends on the consultant. The consultant responsibility os to find clients or customers to the project and look over the selling activities. If the client bring customers to the firm, it is our duty to covert them as our customers. The target of the consultant is finding potential customers to the project, having an initial interaction with them, explaining the project, features, benefits etc in brief. Crate interest among those people and invite them to have an interaction with the management. Arranging a platform to the meeting is the work of the consulant. He have a right to close the deal at his level by explaining the project, if he is not able to convince the customers, then he can bring them to the management.

The reason behind this is, I am interested in perfomance based pay rather than fixed pay-scales. If the consultant do not perform well due to some reasons, it is waste of his efforts and our time too. So, the client who perform well gets higher benefits and give the same amount of benefits to the firm also. I will look those kind of people to this deal, and I fix pay in those aspects.

Here the potential confilicts happen between the consultant and the firm is- when a prospective customer bring by the consultant, if we fail to close the deal, then the consultant feel worse. If the consultant make fake promises to prospective customers, it becomes a problem to the management, and leads to conflicts. Similarly we provide some facilities to the consulant, but if those facilities were mis-utilized by the consultant, it leads to create some conflicts between us. The relationship between us depends on activities of both of us, we must work by trusting each other, with respect and honor and work for the sustainability of the firm.
