Question

an elderly perso? (0 p combination have on 2Jack & John are watching a football game at home when their space heater explodes. Each suffers burns to hi legs. Jack has their burns will have on skin regeneration and hair growth. (10 pt) a partial-thickness, second-degree burn while John has a full-thickness burn. Predict the effect 3. Twins Sally & Sue had rose tattoos placed on their buttocks. As they got older Sally decided to have her tattoo removed. Why is it difficult to surgically remove a large tattoo without causing scar tissue to form? (Hint: Think about where the dye is deposited in the skin.) Sue did not have her tattoo removed. What will the tattoo look like as Sue ages? Why will the appearance of the tattoo change? (Assume Sue does not gain lots of weight.) (10 4. a. Humans can have a wide variety of skin colors, and yet all humans have approximately the same number of melanocytes. How is this possible? (5 pt) b. It appears that a combination of selective pressures in evolution have caused these genetic differences in selective factors appears to be exposure to UV radiation. It melanin production. One of the main contributing appears that the evolution of skin color strongly correlates to UV radiation exposure resulting in that is effective, but not too effective in screening out UV radiation. Why would this be important in the evolution of skin color in humans? (5 pt) skin color MacBook Air 0 command optic

Explanation / Answer

3. Tattoo ink is deposited in DERMIS through multiple puncture. The puncture induce inflamainfla reaction as a result of which macrophages invade the punctured site. Ink are deposited in these punctured site. Macrophages take up the ink, but they don't have ability to metabolize ink. So ink stays in macrophages and give impression of tattoo.

In surgical removal of tattoo, the skin incision is made then tattoo area is removed. As the incision is made up to dermis therefore when healing occurs, the new collagen and fibroblast grow to repair the damage. This leaf to scar formation.

Over time tattoo ink may fade or the tattoo size may stretch as person grows. Fading is usually due to UV light exposure. As person grows the skin also changes and grows, becomes pages or tense, these factors will change appearance of tattoo (look at shaggy skin of old people)

4. People living in sun exposed area are more prone to UV induced damage. Melanin pigment help in reducing the harmful effect of UV rays therefore people living in sun exposed area have darker skin.

One major function of UV rays is synthesis of Vitamin D. Vitamin D is synthesized in human skin upon exposure to UV rays. Vitamin D has important role in calcium homeostasis. It help in absorption of calcium from diet, kidney. Calcium is needed for bone synthesis and maintainance. Thus is more UV rays is blocked by melanin then less Vitamin D will be synthesised, which will dysregulate calcium homeostasis. Therefore melanin is not too effective in screening UV rays
