Would it be more accurate to measure the pulse for 30 seconds or for the full minute? 3. Are the numbers the same for each position. and why? After changing positions, why do you need to wait for 2 minutes before taking the pulse? 4. 5. Are the numbers the same for each method, and why? 6. Does the ventricular contraction cause the lub or dub sound? 7. Does the blood pressure change with different arm positions? If so, why? 8. Which arm position gives the most accurate resultsExplanation / Answer
Please let me know if it is not clear
2)pulse is the force exerted by blood on the waals of arteries which cause expansion of arterial wall which occurs with the amount of blood pumped by heart .The pulse rate can be measured by counting the pulse rate for 30 sec and then multiplied by 2 .If rate is particularly sloew or high it is best to measure pulse for 60 sec,so this accurate as it gives the beat per minute .pulse can be palpated with help of fingers wrist, elbow, side of neck at carotid artery, femoral artery.
3)The numbers are not same for all positions, in horizontal position the pulse rate is slow which is more for sitting position and increase s on standing the difference of pulse rate from sitting to standing position is due to change on hydrostatic pressure due to change in position of thighs .while lying down there is no effect of gravity and more blood returns to heart and there is less requirement of blood at periphery so less amount of blood is needed so heart rate much lower. While standing more amount of blood needs to be pumped so heart rate increase s.sino aortic mechanism is also involved in change of heart rate.
4)for changing positions the body needs to work which needs more peripheral blood supply for which heart has to pump more blood so the pulse rate automatically rises.we need to give some time to the body to cope up with the new position.
5)sorry this question is not clear.
6) ventricular contraction cause lubb sound .after completion of atrial systole ventricles starts contraction which raises the intraventricular pressure.when intraventricular pressure becomes more than atria the atrioventricular valves close and lub or the first hear sound is heard.
7)The blood pressure changes with different positions of arm the patient s arm should be fully support on a flat surface at heart level.on lowering the arm level it increases the blood pressure blood pressure raises on lowering the arm the arm should always be placed at the level of right atrium.on raising the arm above the level of heart it the blood pressure decrease.as the heart has to pump more blood to reach the a much longer distance of raised arm.
8)the left arm position should be kept on a flat surface which should be ar level of heart .near the right atrium when the person is in a sitting position.
