Question
Based on the eperimental descriptions below, please answer questions about the design of the experiments.
Experiment 1: Effects of exercise
In the previous lab, you determined the effects of exercising for 3 minutes on a bicycle ergometer for all students in the class to answer the research question: What is the effect of exercise on heart rate and breathing rate in college students, as compared to a resting state?
a. What basic type of study design did you use to answer the research question?
-descriptive
-experimental
-neither
b. More specifically, what type of study design did you use to answer the research question?
-case study
-cross-over
-cross-sectional
-longitudinal
-pre/post
-randomized, controlled
-retrospective
-time series
c. Develop a directional hypothesis for your research question. (Recall that a research question typically includes an independent variable, dependent variable, categorical variable for categorical data, comparator (if apporopriate), and population.)
Explanation / Answer
In the above experiment the college student who are doing excercise are in a state of motion they need more energy and far that they need more oxygen so the heart rate increased to pump more blood to all the cells also breathing rate will be increased to take more oxygeen inside the lungs while the students who are in resting state do not need more oxygen and energy.
( a) descriptive reasearch design is used to observe each questions
(b) case study reaseach is used in the above experiment
( c) directional hypothesis is predictions of positive and negative changes in relationship and it explains specific relationship .e.g
What will be effect of exercise on heart rate of adults and children's
What will difference between educated and non educated students.
