If you have "old timer" employees and need to hire new employees because of demand of your product and you ask the "old timers" to write down the description of all task they do and this turns into an argument because upper management does not think it's accurate what do you do? Do you ignore their descriptions and write them as you see fit because there was no job description before. Why or why not? Descriptions given by the old timer employees, should not be ignored fully as it is the core of the activities already being done, but it requires the addition of best practices related to the each task.  
Old timer employees have come out with the description of tasks they do. These descriptions only explain the work they do, but it does not explain what is required to be done in that task. The deviation between what is required to be done and what is done, took place with increase in level of experience, changing work condition, development of subjectivity towards the work and work pressure of completion of the task. These factors don’t apply to the new employees and they require a standard operating method of all the tasks, the perform it will help the management to make new employees follow the best practices of doing a task. It will improve the efficiency and productivity at work. It is the reason that management should rely up to a limited extent upon the descriptions given by the old timers and new information and method of work must be included on the basis of best practices followed in the industry to perform the specific task. It can be done using the benchmarking process of each task.
