Question

The Lyrical Ballacts She has a world of ready wealth, Our minds and hearts to bless- The tables turned; an evening scene, Spontaneous wisdom breathed by health on the same subject. Truth breathed by chearfulness. One impulse from a vernal wood Up! up! my friend, and clear your looks, Why all this toil and troublei Up! up! my friend, and quit your books, Or surely you'll grow double. May teach you more of man Of moral evil and of good, Than all the sages can. Sweet is the lore which nature brings Our meddling intellect The sun above the mountain's head, A freshening lustre mellow, Through all the long green fields has spread, His first sweet evening yellow. Misshapes the beauteous forms of things -We murder to dissect. Enough of science and of art; Close up these barren leaves, Come forth, and bring with you a heart That watches and receives. Books! 'tis a dull and endless strife, Come, hear the woodland linnet, How sweet his music; on my life There's more of wisdom in it. And hark! how blithe the throstle sings! And he is no mean preacher Come forth into the light of things, Let Nature be your teacher.

Explanation / Answer

The poem " The table Turned" is written by William Wordsworth in 1798.

This poetry is written in ballad form. The poet is addressing the readers on the pretext of his friends.

As the name of the poetry suggest the table turned, is actually the poet is telling us through his friends to wind up the study from books, get up and come to the nature, he is telling his friends not to get surprised by what he is telling and not to look at him by surprise rather come and learn from the nature.

The poet says his friends that sun that is above the mountain head will turn the green field into yellow, these beauties will not be available in the books. Nature is the true teacher it teaches by its immense beauty and in natural ways.

He further says that definitely, the intelligence of the friends will increase in double. but the lesson taught by nature will be the best in all respect.

The poet tells his friends to make nature their teacher. It will teach through songs by birds, and nature will bring the true light. Nature is kind and generous it will bless our mind and heart, and remove evil because it provides cheerfulness and cheerfulness provides good health.

The poet is telling that we dissect each and every beauty to understand it actually we murder it, rather nature is sweet and serene, it is not dull like science and arts, he tells to love nature it is a giver human beings are the receivers, he is telling the readers through his friends to admire, enjoy learn and  appreciate nature and receive the health, cheerfulness and drive away evil from your heart and mind and become like the golden spread of green field.
