Social media has been changed from connecting people to advertisement and commercial purpose. Earlier I used social media sites to remain connected with my friends but now I use it for getting special discounts, new offers and what are the new in the different companies like Amazon, Microsoft, e-bay etc. Further I use to gain different knowledge about the world. Currently this is helping to gain my knowledge and not only being connected with the friend but also gaining the world knowledge, it may be political, geographical, MNC etc. If I talk about the entertainment then I have subscribed many channels to get new releases and funny videos. Generally I do not play games on social media sites and biggest demerit of playing games is that the friends get too much annoying notification and they complain for same. I have subscribed media news channels for instant news. This gives me the understanding of happening in the world and eliminated the use of newspaper. When I read newspaper it seems that I am reading an old news paper. So ultimately my uses have been improved from being connected to entertainment purpose.
These information are very important for me and my generation to remain synchronized with the world. Otherwise I will feel myself retard. My parent did not have these sources to get lighting fast information. They have TV, radio, newspaper as the source. But now they are also using these platforms and remain updated with the world.
As I have stated above that earlier I used social media sites to being connected with the friends and families but now I am also using it for getting the information about the promotion of the companies, innovation and special offer and discounts and coupons. For an example on Amazon I daily see on Facebook that which product has highest discount which the company claim lightning discount. I sometimes buy it.
Hence the companies can use social media sites as a footfall or eyeball generator.
