Write your opinion for each discussion if you agree with their response.

This is their response/opinion to the question below.
Example: I agree, with your discussion because........ make sure your response for each discussion is more than 5 sentences.

the question they answered to was, provide information on what you believe is important as far as education. Does education help law enforcement as a whole improve?

A.
Education is important in policing. According to the slides most studies indicate that officers with college hours or a college degree fair better on the academics in the academy and have better working knowledge of the court system which enhances their field performance. It is also a very high advantage, if you have a college degree it will help you get hired ahead of another applicant. It will also show the applicant has skils.

B.
I believe higher education is essential to new police cadets, this helps the cadet be better knowledgeable, be more mature and less likely to get involved in illicit activity such as corruption etc. It also helps by having a better resume and being ahead of future applicants that may not have college credit and helps have a better chance of being recruited by the law enforcement agency of their choice. Re search also shows that higher education helps officers/law enforcement make better rational choices while on the job. Overall, higher education is an important aspect in making the best applicants for law enforcement possible.

I disagree with your opinion because

We’re not accountants, we’re not here to crunch numbers, it’s all about interacting with people and dealing with and solving problems on the scene, you know, in quick moments. So actually yes, I think it is helping us if we were to mandate a four-year degree; In talking to other people from other agencies that have four-year, like Arlington, Texas, and places like that where they mandate it, they say that yeah it’s kind of hard because the people they get are book smart but yet they can’t operate out in the field.

In my opinion, these days, whether it is police departments or fire departments or a schoolteacher. It is not what the degree is in, but having a degree shows that you have determination, drive, and the fortitude to complete a college degree. I went to school and worked full-time at night. Today I think that having a degree tells the employer that you have the drive to stick with it and it’s hard. If it were easy, everyone would have a degree.
