Division of labour is necessary for Economic progress .it allows People to specialize in particular task.Durkhiem ideas of devision of labour is focused on the shift of simple society to one more that complex socity .he argued that traditional society were made up homogeneous People . They are beliefs , thoughts are more similar.modern society as compare created complex devision of labour , values , beliefs etc.Both kind soliditry mechanical and organic affect the devision of labour . Mechanical soliditary occures when individual with structural units are alike and self - sufficient .for example , in traditional society , people made their own food , cloth .because they didn't want to rely others in daily social needs.so this solidarity with low devision labour . Because there are all common in every task and having less specialization
Organic solidarity when large population is stratified with samll structural units .There is high level of interdependence to each other but still there division of labour.Durkheim thinks the things like transportation , communication and increase interaction with others causes social change from mechanical solidarity to organic solidarity .organic solidarity is the part of high devision of labour .
