Explanation / Answer
1. I was so adept at procrastinating that I often didn't realise I was doing it, instead, I’d convince myself that I was doing something productive and meaningful when in reality I was doing everything except what I should have been doing. I'd make another cup of coffee, get sucked into depths of YouTube or get lost in Google search pages for my work. Tasks that should have taken me 5 minutes to complete took me 50 or more. The truth is I was scared. Scared of failing, of letting myself and other people down, even scared of succeeding. Procrastination is usually considered the habit of delaying or postponing something. However, on closer inspection procrastination is more than just postponing something, it’s actually better described as putting off something that needs to be done. Fear of failure: If you are scared that a particular piece of writing isn’t going to turn out well, then you may avoid working on it in order to avoid feeling the fear. Fear of success: Some procrastinators (the author of this handout included) fear that if they start working at their full capacity, they will turn into workaholics.I was scared of turning cold towards peopl because of getting too immersed in my work and also feeling pressurized from others expectations. It’s important to realise that there is never a perfect moment and to chase this moment or more accurately sit around and wait for it will confine you to a life of inactivity. Its important to be realistic and understand that one cannot meet everyone's expectations, and there is actually no need in the first place. We should know our strengths and weaknesses and work on that rather than developing fear of success and failure and then procrastinate everything and reach nowhere in life. Perfectionism is boring, facing challenges and failing at them sometimes is motivating and keeps you going with a feeling that atleast we tried.Success is good too but not a great motivator. Thats exactly what I understood,by not losing control and focus and keep working to the best of my capapbilities and failing and then trying again,to keep things interesting and challenging.
