Question

Biology & Behavior Discussion F18 Discussion Team 1 90 9138:06 MAIN PROMPT: Some people argue that all psychological phenomena can be reduced to biological phenomena (e.g., patterns of chemical and electrical signals). Hence, their claim is that it will eventually be unnecessary to study psychology as a separate area of science. Take a moment to think about this claim. . Do you completely agree, completely disagree, or are you mixed? Explain your thoughts using the current material. Explicitly draw connections between your thoughts with previous concepts like the foundations of psychology and levels of analysis.

Explanation / Answer

When it comes to relating psychology with biology, I somewhere have mixed thoughts. It is true that the psychological phenomenon can be reduced to some chemical and electrical signals. For example, when we talk about being attracted to someone, it is not psychologically related but brings in the concept of hormones and the way they develop a sense of closeness and attraction which is a purely biological concept.
