Forum 2: Piaget's Preoperational Stage (due by Sunday, September 16) - This assignment centers on understanding how to assess children in Piaget's Preoperational Stage of Cognitive Development with tasks related to Conservation.

In Chapter 7 of your text, Piaget's Preperational Stage of Cognitive Development is discussed. One limitation of children in this stage is that they have issues with conservation. Your assignment is to design one method of assessing or testing whether or not a child has issues with conservation. Feel free to be creative and come up with your own examples; however, if you get stuck, you can use a task either from the text or from outside sources. Explain the task and why you believe it will measure whether or not a child has issues with conservation.

Conservation task tests means the ability of a child to judge some properties of conservation after the object undergoes transformation.it refers the ability to determine quantity will remain same if container shape and size has changed according psychologist Jean Paget proposed that conservation is not present in children's of the age of 2-7 years at this stage child focuses only on one dimension e.g he will fous on lenght and hieght and ignoring on other important dimensions. .child focuses only in static characteristics instead of changing dimensions as he is in learning different stages of consrvvation in the world. For example

If we put equal rice in two plates A and B then we change one plate with small jug and then ask child which more rice he will go to the jug because his inability to find conservation.also child fails to explain conservation in number, quantity weight and age.
