(Answer) (1) Explicitly, this man is saying that he enjoys playing the guitar and indulging in adrenaline sports. He has only managed to be specific about the disliking country music. Every other piece of information is typical of an online dating profile.

If one might read between the lines with his “about me” section, it is fairly obvious that he is looking for a fling. He seems to be purposefully omitting information like his occupation. Considering that sports like skydiving, skiing, jet skiing etc require going to expensive vacation spots, pricey equipment etc. it is very unlikely that a 28-year-old has the money to do all of those things. He might come from a rich family; however, it is very unlikely that he is well occupied.

He might be partially honest in the sense that he seems to be giving out information that doesn’t really matter. For instance, it is ok to be honest about liking “the breakfast club” because that piece of information is almost insignificant in judging a person.

(2) Jane clearly loves her concerts. It is explicit information because by the looks of it, he has not only mentioned it but, also has a concert profile picture. She is very clear about the type of music she likes and might spend most of her time attending music festivals as the music she likes is performed there frequently.

In her about me section, she implies that she is an extrovert. Her favourite quotation also implies that she might be the kind of person who likes to live “on the edge.” She doesn’t seem to have viable interests, hobbies or maybe even a professional life as there are no indicators of such a thing. She is about 24 years old, which means that she might be still in college.

She might be trying to conceal an existing relationship while looking for another one online because she has written “it’s complicated” in her relationship status blank. There might be more honesty with this profile too because the information is typical of a concert going, college kid.
