Teratogen is referred to as any agent that would be causing abnormalities in th fetus, as the fetus eager exposed to the same at the time of pregnancy. These would be usually discovered after birth of an individual, in the form of a defect.

Examples of Teratogens would be alcohol, cocaine etc. if a teratogen is exposed, the defects would be on the basis of the duration to which the embryo is exposed, the amount of teratogen to which thefetus would be exposed to and the developmental stage at which the embryo would be exposed to.

Any teratogen would be affecting the fetus or the embryo in many different ways, which would be causing physical malformations. Aldo’s there. Maybe problems with emotional development or Behavioral problems.

Also, there may be an affect on the intelligence quotient of children. Teratogens are of four types, metabolic conditions, physical agents, infection or drugs.
