Partible paternity or shared paternity is practiced in lowland south american socities where there is concept of multiple co fathers. It facilitates paternal investment from multiple men and gives improve survival chance to child.

About 23 percent of children in USA live with single mother. Various studies claim that children from single mother are more prone to substance abuse, aggression and crime. If partible paternity becomes norm in society it can be believed that many such children would not face emotional and behavioral challenges associated with abesnted farther figure. They would have stronger support system because of multiple paternal investment.

However this idea seems utopian as various studies have confirmed that males are very sensitive to paternity. They would invest in a child emotionally and financially when he is confirmed that he is biological father of the child.
