Question 1 In this course we've discussed the various threats facing humanity: viral epidemics, being preyed upon by other animals, violence and warfare, societal collapse, governmental failure, etc. Even if we survival all of these (or zombies), there is still the risk that our species' success has already doomed us, and most of the planet's other species, to extinction. The process as already begun, and it might become the planet's sixth mass extinction. After everything we've learned in this course, are you left feeling more optimistic or less optimistic about humanity's future? About the planet's future? Why? Bring in evidence and arguments from the previous modules in the course.Explanation / Answer
The future of humanity doesnt look very bright and optimistic given the current circumstances we are facing around he world right from global warming to terrorism. Even common people are running out of patience and killing innocent ones either for money or some other personal gain or just out of impulsivity. Even social media has made us question our humanity, the future doesnt look bright with that respect too.I think given the current scenario,we will completely stop talking to each other in the future and make social media our lives. Global warming is going to have a major effect on food, and people would kill each other for a piece of bread within this century. Although this sound very far from happening now, but look at the oil reserves and when they are going to deplete and look at the changes in the weather, there might be a black swan effect. Also burning forests down, either for construction purposes,or catching fire naturaaly,is making animals lose their natural habitats, which can becom dangerous for humans, since they could come into cities and start killing people for food. With natural resources depleting, glaciers melting, environmental pollution, also communalism all these make a happy future chances bleak. Its a matter of time that everyone realises where we are headed to and to save us and our planet work together.
