Be sure to describe the location of brain damage that might create this kind of behavior. Each correct answer is worth 1 point for a total of 5 points for part 1. When Mr. Smith is handed a toothbrush, he bangs it on the table and brushes the bristles against his thumb. He does not know what to do with it, though he knows it is called a toothbrush. Lottie Lockheart has been having difficulty finding her way home since her family moved to a new neighborhood. Explanation / Answer

1. In this, the individual seems to have difiiculty with his Procedural memory. Procedural memory is also called as Implicit memory which is a type of Long term memory. This is the momery of skills of how to do certain things. this comes with a lot of practice. This memory is actually made of sensorymotor behaviours which are deeply inculcated in self and the individual is not aware of the same since this is an unconscious memory. Procedural memory's encoding and storing is done by Cerebellum, Putamen, Caudate Nucleus and the Motor Cortex.

2. Lottie is having difficulty with her working memory. She is unable to remember and process information such as which direction to turn into. It is the central Executive part of the Prefrontal Cortex which drives the working memory.

3. Ziggy seems to have problems with his episodic memory as he is unable to memorise autobiographical events as to which place he was at what time etc. This problem happens when hippocampus of the brain is damaged.

4. Grandpa Lew also seems to e suffering from problems with his Semantic memory. Due to a lot of practice of the game, his procedural memory seems to be good and he is able to beat his granddaughter. However he is not able to remember the context in which he had acquired his knowledge of playing the video game. This primarily happens due to damage in the frontal and temporal cortexes.

5. Ravi seems to have problems with his echoic memory which is a type of sensory memory. He is not able to retain information which he has received through hearing i.e. unable to retain aural stimuli. Hence, he is confusing the name of the movie. This memory is driven majorly by the brain regions located in the prefrontal cortex.
