Explanation / Answer

Islam and Christianity

These are are two of the largest religions in the world and also have a historical connection. The similarities are that both of these religions have a long tim history with the Middle East and are known to be monotheistic religions. Christianity is known to develop in the 1st century CE from the second temple Judaism and is based on the teachings and resurrection of Jesus Christ after death. Whereas, Islam etymologically means to surrender, developing in the 7th century CE and is based on the preaching of Muhammad of how a person should surrender himself to the will of Allah. Christians have their holy book as bible and Muslims have their holy book as Quran. Both Christianity and Islam share the same belief about the virgin birth of Jesus from Mary, though the accounts for both are different. Both Christianity and Islam are considered as Abrahamic religions. Christians believe that gospels are authoritative and that the work of Quran is a non divine or apocryphal work. As for the Christian's belief, Jesus is considered to be the son of god and sinless. Whereas, Islam believes that though not sinless, but Jesus was one of the most important messengers sent by Allah.

The reflection of religion on the culture of peace and social justice has sadly become quite prominent. Sadly, people's thoughts and beliefs are shaped by the teachings of what they have heard from ages, acceptance of human injustice or non acceptance of injustice, or even opposition of injustice by violence or non violence shapes an individual's mentality. Islam believes in social activism and voluteerism as protest against any kinds of injustice. Whereas, Christianity believes in acting via movements protesting against somethings by gathering public support.

An area of conflict between Christianity and Islam lies within the fundamentals of both the religions. The idea lies with the whole concept of Jesus. As christiqnity believes that Jesus is the son of god and was resurrected, Islam views of Jesus just being another disciple and a preacher and a complete human. They believe that Jesus did not resurrect and neither did he die in response to our sins. Christians believe of Quran to not be authentic as the first hand message of god whereas Muslims believe that both new and Old Testament are corrupted and thus they can't be accepted.
