Jesse has a fear of heights. Whenever he looks out a window that is two stories or more above the ground, he experiences autonomic arousal. The higher he goes, the worse it gets. Jesse avoids heights as much as possible, and this has had a negative impact on his life. For example, when his friends got together recently at a seventh-floor restaurant, he declined to go out with them because of his fear. He has also refused to participate in other activities that involved heights.  

Describe how you would use IN VIVO desensitization to help Jesse overcome his fear of heights.

In Vivo Desensitization is defined as a variation of systematic desensitization in which the anxiety-arousing situations to which the person is exposed are real, rather than imagined. Extreme fear of heights is also known as acrophobia.

Relax: Relaxation activities involve yoga or meditation, can help you influence how your fear or anxiety affects your life. Deep breath practicing exercises while thinking about the situations you fear. Or attend the yoga class. These practices can help you become sensitive to how your emotions are connected with physiological processes, like breathing, heart rate, and sweating.

· Doing regular exercise, plenty of sleep and maintaining a healthy diet are all great ways to regulate physiological processes related to phobias and anxiety. Go for a walk regularly and have more liquid drinks in order to overcome the stress.

Other procedures are:

1. Consult a practiced therapist who can help you in coming out of these fears.

2. Learn techniques to overcome anxiety.

3. Take the prescribed drugs that are good for treating anxiety.

4. Build up the confidence in yourselves.
