Explanation / Answer

A Homeless Day Shelter provides temporary residence for individuals, groups and families who are homeless. Every agency has different activities and events arranged for people who walk in to avail their services.

XYZ agency caters to basic needs of an individual. The guest could walk-in or drop-in any time after 0700hrs and could stay at the center till 1400hrs until the door closes. The services provided include, meal programs(breakfast and lunch), they also provide with showers for individuals who have not bathed themselves in a while. Some who were in need of clean clothes are assisted with laundry.

They address the problems of individuals who are jobless and are in search of jobs, they help them type emails to their respective firms, they help individuals make important phone calls. The agency I was associated with also had a support group wherein individuals could connect with the other guests at the center. This provided indiviuals with an opportunity to make friends and socialise with people who get them and who wouldn't ostracize them.

Services provided also included transportation to a workplace to find a job or to make a visit to the doctor. XYZ agency came into existence, to help individuals who are homeless, reach their maximum potential. However, until their basic needs are not met, they would be far from being self-actualized. Thus, XYZ aims at providing individuals with basic necessities which they are unable to acquire otherwise.
