Explanation / Answer

“Explain a specific example in which you used critical thinking/problem solving strategies to solve a problem in the real world.” What is your answer to the question

My grandmother fell off the bed and started bleeding profusely through her nose. It seemed evident that she fell during sleep, while taking a turn. There was a pool of blood down and she was calling my name. At that moment, if I would have lost my calm or started crying or panicking, the situation could have been worse. Rather, I held my calm, called the ambulance and she was taken to the hospital in less than ten minutes.

Yes, it is difficult to think logically when situations are tough, but there was a situation when I had to hold my calm. In order to think critically at such times,it is important to remove any biases that might interfere with my decision making.

If you are a job coach, what suggestions would you make to maximize his or her answer to the interview question?

Giving real life examples are good, but in order to gain better response, it is important that a potential employee would also give a brief example of his flaws before stating the most appropriate consequence describing critical thinking.
