The ideal body type in the history is the ideal of female beauty has been difficult to accomplish or achieve. Women typically sacrifice to accomplish them such as removing the ribs to decrease their waist or corsets even though it causes them health problems such as shortness of breath which could lead them pneumonia. The current media today is universal and very powerful. They expect the man and woman to have it all. In another word, perfect body. It seems that they are not thin enough. In another word, dissatisfaction.

In my personal experience, I have gained weight since I lost my job. I had time to eat at the right time. I do not have a chance to exercise due to no end of homework and care for a child.

The solutions that the authors provide to counteract the media –driven pressure to be thin by having the parents talk with the children about the media messages and healthy lifestyles. Warn the children not to watch more than one hour per day. Ensure that all family members are getting a nutritional balance dinner. Providing healthy meals and snack will avoid getting obesity. Most importantly, adults should encourage the children to develop their strength such as sports, music, and art to promote healthy self-esteem.

Explanation / Answer

1.  Nowadays, due to the increased influence of social media, people are becoming more and more health conscious. They are doing extreme diets, exercises to look thin and attractive at the expense of their health. This is more commonly seen in women. Women typically sacrifice a lot like removing the ribs to decrease their waist or corsets even though it causes them health problems such as shortness of breath which could lead them to many more health disorders.
