1. a) The three levels of management are low-level, middle-level and top-level.
1. b) Effectiveness and efficiency can be often confused.
Effectiveness is the quality of taking the correct steps to solve a problem. On the other hand efficient is performing the right steps that solves the problem.
Effectiveness is a decision making process. Efficiency is on the other hand an executional process.
Let’s take an example. Let’s say a problem arises in the organization and the correct steps to solve the problem is to first analyze, process and check the problem. If a manager takes the decision to do all the 3 steps then it is an effective decision. On the other hand he could have done an efficient analysis but inefficient processing and checking.
2. a) The two most (commonly) discussed goals in organization are Strategic goals and Tactical goals.
2. b) Three commonly used plans within organizations are operational plans, short term plan and long term plan.
3. a) Managers face different types of problems and decisions to do their job. These problems and decisions can be classified into two categories (each).
Problems can be structured or unstructured problems.
Similar to problems, decision can be programmed or un-programmed decisions.
