An upset stomach may be biochemically related to feeling excessive emotions and being upset while eating. Too much worry may contribute to a pounding headache while feeling intense jealousy and anger may contribute to elevated blood pressure levels. 4. A great deal of controversy exists concerning some areas of emotional health. We know a great deal, but have a great deal more to find out. Techniques and methods that are geared to the facilitation of emotional well-being range from traditional psychotherapeutic approaches to approaches such as biofeedback and meditation. 5. Traditional approaches may include process-oriented sessions facilitated by a psychiatrist, psychologist, psychotherapist, social worker, or other traditionally trained professional. During these sessions the client may be called upon to reveal certain aspects of their life history and work together with the therapist to uncover causes and develop solutions to their emotional duress. Or they may be suggested that they begin medication to help with the emotional duress if it is diagnosed as severe. 6. There are a number of different ways to approach meditation. Most mediation techniques involve placing attention on the breathing pattern. It may also involve progressively tensing and releasing muscles and tendons. There are also moving meditations that explore the connection between the body and mind. Meditation has been used throughout history and today some are exploring its benefits as an emotional therapy. Visualization and guided imagery are also variations on the meditation theme. 7. Stress is neither good nor bad in relation to its definition. However, when stress builds up and is not properly channeled it may have adverse affects on the body and mind. There are many factors that may lead to the creation of stress. It may be beneficial for one who is affected by stress to learn techniques associated with managing stress. Stress management programs will teach the participant to recognize the precursors of stress, how to avoid it, and valuable methods for relieving it once it is experienced. Stress affects different people in different ways and therefore stress management programs should be individually tailored to meet specific needs. 8. While medication is still the option of choice for many severe problems affecting the emotions such as Ritalin or Prozac, other treatments are being examined which may lead to supportive mechanisms. Cognitive restructuring is a way of altering our perceptions to a new awareness of reality. In biofeedback, cognitive restructuring is a concept that helps the mind to re-focus and realize its connection with both the body and the environment. Through this mind-body integrative technique clients are taught to recognize factors, which may lead to high blood pressure and other ailments.

Emotional therapies who strive to maintain emotional well-being among the individual by treasuring and understanding the values of the emotions and working towards a positive direction. It propagates the idea of integrating the mind and the body to balance in a positive way so that homeostasis is maintained. The deep relaxation methods involve a process which leads the person to a calm and soothing state. This is also considered to be one of the methods to attain emotional well-being. This, however, does not guarantee a person of immense joy and happiness, and complete loss of negative emotions. This promotes calmness in the individual despite the negative emotion, hence, attaining emotional well-being. Stress is usually considered to be a hindrance to emotional well-being. The disruption caused by stress affects both the physical and emotional well-being of the individual. It can lead to upset stomach, headache, anger, and so on. It is, therefore, necessary to maintain emotional well-being to decrease such disruption in the body of the individual. Emotional well-being is one the most research topics when it comes to mental health. However, due to the individual difference, the way it facilitates differs. Some people get relax with a simple breathing exercise, however, some require biofeedback, meditation, yoganidra and so on.
