Explanation / Answer

Do you think that paying women for their eggs should be legal? Why or Why not?

Women who are donating their eggs, are donating for a purpose of research. There are tonnes of conflicts going on in this topic regarding the fact that if women should or should not be paid. Many people argue that women, when donating their egg to a couple , who is infertile, should be allowed, but if she is donating her egg for research purposes, compensation should not be given. But, scientists also agree that even after informed consent and minimisation of immediate problems, the women undergoing hormonal therapies for egg production, have extensive long term side effects. Hence, I believe they should be paid, so that in future if they have those complications, they compensation amount could be put to use.

What moral responsibility do such clinics have for caring for donors who have complications from the procedure years down the road?

For women who do not have complications immediately, but some years down the road, the doctors take care that less than 1% of women would face issues. Though, the research labs do not take responsibility of any such complications arising from the procedure. The research labs should pay them compensation keeping in mind of the fact that there are going to be medical complications that would be arising and they should not just deny their responsibility on paying women donating in research in the name of “not everything should be for sale”, since the woman is ready to mess up get hormonal system, though intentionally m for a research that would benefit millions of people and also the makers, both in the form of fame and capital.

Should companies that are targeting folly students for such procedures be allowed to market directly to them with flyers, emails, or add in student newspapers? Why or why not?

No. Since these people anyway do not have the correct sense of decision making on the right path, and they would take up the offer as soon as they se the pay. For them informed consent wouldn’t be the matter, but only the pay would be important. Hence, such advertisements should not be made.
