Explanation / Answer
The above case study shows us a glimpse of the work climate that Kevin works at. It also shows a brief glance at Kevin's personality which might have tinges of anxiety and openness as mentioned. Bo and Moe also seem to work well together and come up to the same conclusion.
It is ethical because when Kevin was hired to do the job, he was aware of the work that he had to do and the consequences of not completing the work in the stipulated time. By agreeing to this, he is saying that he would finish the work in the said amount of time, ensuring that the company does not face any losses. The work that the organisation has given Kevin seems to be reasonable as it is mentioned that Kevin's predecessor completed the same amount in a lesser amount of time. As a result, it is expected from him to find the means to complete the work by the deadlines. As Kevin mentioned, perhaps the reason he is unable to complete the work is simply because he is new at the job and needs some time to adjust, and would pick up as time goes on.
It is not ethical because when Kevin had got the job, he probably had a fixed contract which stated the time that he was to invest in the job i.e ( 9am to 5pm) and he was to be payed for his working hours and he is protected by the Labour Laws to ensure the same. If Bo and Moe agree to it, it means that they are not giving him his share of payment as he is putting extra time and effort into the job without any compensation for the same.
