Question

use the scientific method to design research studies about children and self steem (basic and applied). Now you will select one of them (either the basic or the applied one) You are going to write the ‘introduction and background’ and the ‘method’ section of a study. Make sure that you review peer reviewed articles so that you can model your sections after those in peer reviewed journal articles. The background section of your study should be supported by at least 10 peer reviewed journal articles. Be sure to also specify your experimental and null hypothesis. In the method section, you will need to identify the methods of data collection, the participants, and the procedure for your study.

At the conclusion of these two sections you need to write a rationale for your study that includes the following:

Analyze the types of sources used and how these choices may affect results.

Justify why your chosen methods of data collection are the optimal choice.

Discuss what type of approach you chose (e.g. qualitative, quantitative, or both) and evaluate why you chose this approach.

Explanation / Answer

Introduction and background: Much research and debate regarding children and how self esteem develops in them has been undertaken in the past few decades. However, careful analysis regarding what aspects affect them is to be seen with a closer lens.

One of the major factors that are seen to be affecting self esteem of children is childhood obesity.

Moreover, some other studies reiterate that clack children are said to have lower self esteem when compared to white kids at school due to the prevalent racism

Method: Rosernberg self esteem scale can be used to conduct the study of students aged 8-10 for assessing how critical parenting impacts the self esteem of a child.

Null Hypothesis: Self esteem of students who receive critical parenting is same as that of students who do not undergo critical parenting.

Alternate Hypothesis: Self esteem of children who receive critical parenting is lower than that of children who do not receive critical parenting.

Both qualitative and quantitative research methodology can be used for data collection in order to have a more comprehensive picture into the self esteem of the control and experimental group.
