Connecticut is a small state in New England Beaches which is densely packed with unique attractions, breathtaking natural beauty, and diverse museums. It is on the southernmost of the six New England States and said to be one of the original of the Thirteen Colonies. The Dutch were the first Europeans to settle in Connecticut.

Some of the places of prominence are:

1) Mystic Seaport :

Mystic Seaport is a unique maritime museum that tells the story of America's early maritime history and the times when Mystic was an important seaport. The museum was founded in 1929 on 19 acres on the Mystic River. It consists of a carefully recreated coastal 19th-century village, a shipyard that is still working, exhibit halls and artifact storage.

What really excites the visitors are 500 historic ships of all kinds and sizes they can climb, explore and admire. The best known is the 1841 whale ship Charles W. Morgan, the oldest commercial ship in America.

2) Elizabeth Park :

Opened to the public in 1897, Elizabeth Park is a 101-acre horticultural park spread across both West Hartford and Hartford, Connecticut. It is called the “Flower of New England Parks” with Victorian formal gardens, verdant green spaces, walking trails, recreational spaces, the charming Pond House Cafe and, at the heart of the park. The magnificent rose garden, which was open in 1904, was the first American public rose garden.

3) Lake Compounce Amusement Park

Lake Compounce is known as the oldest and longest operating amusement park in America. In fact, it has been operating for 156 years now. Here, one can enjoy breathtaking rides like the Boulder Dash, Down Time, the Enterprise and the Pirate Ship, and lot more. One can also enjoy the water rides, kiddie and family rides, as well as some highly entertaining musical shows.

4) Dinosaur State Park and Arboretum

Dinosaur State Park is known to be holding one of the country's largest dinosaur track sites. Underneath the park's geodesic dome, one will find an impressive display of Jurassic fossil tracks made over 200 million years ago. Visitors can go on a hike to explore more than 2 miles of nature trails as well as the Dinosaur State Park Arboretum to discover some unique flora and plant families that appeared during the age of the dinosaurs.

5) Yale University Art Gallery

Yale University Art Gallery in Connecticut is one of the places with inspirational exhibits and has a wide range of art collections that are designed to fascinate and educate. One can enjoy both permanent and travelling exhibitions at this gallery and some of the collections include Asian Art, African Art, Modern and Contemporary Art, and photography amongst many others.
