Question

Based on how long we live, the many tasks of middle adulthood, and the non-specific term "middle" when the lifespan is not fixed, do we need to further subdivide this stage of life? And might we want to conceive of it in some entirely different way?

Explanation / Answer

Most of the developmental theories had the entire human life in mind when they were developed, say some 80 years of complete life. Middle adulthood in the development theory describes the stage where the individuals get settled after marriage and go through the peak years of their career normally from mid thirties to mid forties. This age is also considered as the age of achievement. Many great leaders around the world died during this age including Jesus.

So dividing it won't help the theory anyway because the individual hasn't lived the expected life span. Some people die even at an younger age, so adding one more age just because of shorter life span won't change anything.
