Each cone synapses with -ganglion cell(s).

Explanation / Answer

The center of the retina is a pit called the fovea centralis. It is composed of closely packed cone cells. It play a major role in sharp central vision (also known as foveal vision), when visual detail is of primary importance, such as reading and driving.

The cells that are photoreceptors (detect colour) are cones. There are two types of receptos in human retia. Rod and cone. Rod cells are responsible for vision in deam light and cones are responsible for colour vision in intense light.

In low light conditions, only rods are activated, and visual acuity is best in the corners of the eye. Visual acuity is defined as clarity of vision. Rod cells are distributed only in the periphery of retina therefore in low light conditions visual acuity is best in the corners of the eye.

In bright light conditions, visual acuity is best when light is focused on the center of the eye. Cones are mainly distributed in the center of the retina therefore in bright light conditions visual acuity is best when light is focused on the center of the eye

A single ganglion cell outside of the fovea receives input from multiple rods. Multiple rods converge their output to single ganglion cell outside of the fovea which is directly connected to the cones of fovea.

Each cone synapses with one ganglion cell. Each ganglion cell outside the fovea receives input from multiple rods and passes to the cones of fovea.
