Question
Translational repression of cad mRNA requires:a) d4EHP b) W114 (Tryptophan 114) c) W85 d) Bicoid e) BBR (Bicoid Binding Region) f) all of the above
My answer would be all of the above, just because I think atleast d4EHP and Bicoid are necessary. I would just like toconfirm.

Explanation / Answer
Yes, your answer of allthe above option is right but I would like to add few points. d4EHP is a cap bindingprotein that repressess cad m-RNA translation by interactingsimultaneously with the 5' cap structure of m-RNA. I'm not sure of youroption b and option c but bicoid protein that is required forrepressing cad m-RNA has two tryptophan residuesin it, but I'm not sure of their positions. May be they are atthese positions 114 and 85. Still I go with this optionalso. Bicoid protein associateswith 5' cap bound complex of cad and repressess translation. I t isa specific repressor of cad m-RNA. BBR (bicoid bindingprotein):- The simultaneous interactions of d4EHP with capstructure and of bicoid with BBR renders cad m-RNAtranslation inactive. Hence even I would say theanswer f is the right option that is all the above.Related Questions
