14. The two-point discrimination test generally gives a discrimination of 2-4 mm on the lips and fin- ger pads, 8-15 mm on the palms, and 30-40 mm on the shins or on the back. What are the approximate relative densities of cutane- ous touch receptors in these regions? 15. A muscle strain inExplanation / Answer
1. Two point discrimination test is used to test and compare the tactile resolution.
2. An estheiometer is used for the test. which uses modified calipers which touch the skin.
3. The distance between the caliper is adjustable, and can be measured.
4. The distance between points, which can be determined as two points of contact, which is called the two-point threshold.
5. Begin the test by closing the calipers and gently touch the skin of the test subject. The subject has to close eyes.
6. Keep repeating the process, opening the calipers a little more each time, until the subject reports two points of contacts.
