Question
1. Brain structures responsible for sexual behaviors. Pick one of the following brain areas: MPOA, Medial Amygdala, vmH, PVN, or SDN. Then, describe in detail what types of symptoms would result if an individual had damage to that area. DO NOT LIST or NAME your brain area! When you respond to the other post, your job is to try to guess what the damaged brain area is, and why you think that is the area. 2. Compare and contrast the "neutral-at-birth" position versus the "sexuality-at-birth" position. 3. Describe the physical and emotional aspects of pain and the different brain areas involved. Give an example of the role culture plays in the experience of pain.Explanation / Answer
1) Amygdala is the brain structure responcible for sexual behaviour. Amygdala is sexually differentiated. The male and female sex harmones testosterone and estrogen are responcible for sexual behaviour are controlled by amygdala. When that area is damaged the sexual pleasing and visual stimuli is decresed. Amygdala projects through three pathways to many areas of the brain hence amygdala is the part responcible for sexual behaviour.
2) The gender is the result of effect of harmones on the developing brain.Sex is determined by genes in the chromosomes the male and the female are the biological terms that we use to differentiate gender. The three types of orientations are homosexual, heterosexual, bisexual. The neutral at birth position and sexuality at birth position have many differences based on the gender.
3)The physical aspects of pain are pain impulse move towards the brain stem and thalamus. Stress responce stimuli stimulates the ANS. The responces includes the continous severe or deep pain having the signs robor, tubor, collar, dollar etc., The emotional aspects of pain are inconvinience and loss of self control are the emotional aspects. The parietal lobe. temporal lobe and occipital lobe are involved in the pain. Severe pain during migrane is an example of experiencing pain.
