The heart is considered the organ which acts as pumping mechanism moving blood with essential nutrients throughout the body. The location and positioning of the heart and the thoracic cavity is important given it significant function. If an individual born with a condition dextrocardia without sinus inverse will he or she be able to live a normal and healthy life why or why not?Explanation / Answer
Dextrocardia is a condition when heart is found to the right side of the chest instead of left side.
Situs inversus (note the misprint of your question) is a condition in which visceral organs of chest and abdomen are present on the opposite side.
In this patient, dextro-cardia is there but situs inversus is not there. So, lungs will be present in their original location, but heart is reversed. This is a rare congenital condition.
Now, since all body organs are present in the correct position except the heart, so all vital organs will perform their functions also. However, this person may have difficulty in breathing, because the distance from right atrium to lungs is increased. So, impure blood will reach the lungs with more difficulty. On the other hand, pure blood will reach the left atrium more easily and fast.
As a final result, increased Arrhythmia and palpitations will occur. In due course of time, this child may die due to heart attack. Normal life is not possible. This child would be unable to do strenuous exercises and too much play. This is because strenuous exercise will increase pressure on the heart, whose pumping capability has been hampered.
