1. The hypothalamus and the pituitary are linked by vascular and neural connections. The anterior pituitary is connected by the hypothalamico -hypophyseal portal system and the posterior pituitary by the hypothalamo-hypophyseal tract.

2. Parathyroid gland tumour: increase levels of Parathyroid hormone in blood. Bones become weaker and there is metacalcification of soft tissues.

Increase Cacitonin levels as in a malignancy of the parafollicular cells, i.e. Medullary thyroid cancer is usually not associated with any abnorml calcium homeostasis. Hence, Calcitonin may be considered a Vestigial Hormone
