Cationic graded potential Anionic graded potential Due to Na+, K+ & Ca++ channels Due to Cl- channel When these channels are activated (eg. Na+), the resting membrane potential becomes more positive to excite a neuron ; i.e. Depolarization phase. When Cl- channel is activated, the resting membrane potential becomes more negative i.e Hyperpolarization which inactivates a neuron.
