Explanation / Answer

Hi Pete,

Hope this message finds you at your best. I would like to propose some ideas for maximizing our business to its full potential. Now, I know that you want to focus more on food than the business but what I am proposing will do benefits for the business both financially and quality wise.

Now let’s establish some facts. Ours is still the only food truck chain in the city that serves authentic banh mi and Vietnamese food. This gives us a great market advantage that we can exploit to our advantage. Our last expansion was done 2 years ago and the customer and market scenario has changed tremendously since then. I feel that an expansion at this time would do great for the business. I’ve summarized some key sales data of our food trucks location-wise for you to have a look at:

Route

Average sales (considering all times)

Uptown route

$6300

Midtown route

$8800

Riverfront route

$6900

As you can see, the midtown route has around 40% more sales than uptown and around 28% more sales than riverfront. Moreover, due to the presence of only one truck in the region, these sales are limited and we can expect much higher numbers as we move on with extra trucks. These expansion trucks, I am proposing will have specific timings as per market need and will operate only during peak times so that we don’t have much extra load on our logistics requirements.

I have also considered the legal documentation and processes we are required to undergo to introduce new food trucks. I understand that this could result in some extra time being put into all this documentation and could adversely affect the food quality/ service. I also understand that your focus at the moment is to get back to our roots and focus more on our quality and service. So, as one of the earliest workers in this company, I believe I have the appropriate know-hows of the business and am motivated to spear-head this expansion in to the market. I would take care of all the extra legal processes and logistics that are required for this expansion plan, so that you can focus more on the service and quality. After discussion with managers of other routes, they are willing to take active part in this plan and would take up the responsibility as the managers of the new expansion trucks. I would continue to take care of my current truck and ensure you that there will be no compromise in its service or quality of food.

I hope you consider this proposal of mine and have a detailed discussion with me and the other managers regarding this. Also, if you need any more numbers and research on the plan, you can call me anytime.
