Stimulation of ganglionic cells in our eyes occurs when (56) ______ production (57) _______ a) Glycine b) dopamine c)glutamate d) ceases e) increases In the figure on the right wherein the skin is poked with needles, where would the person feel only one pinprick? A or B When hair cells inside our ear are stimulated the ion involved is a) sodium b) magnesium c) calcium d) potassium Botox is a drug made from a toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum and is injected into skin for cosmetic purposes to 'improve' appearances. It works by a) blocking Ach release b) increasing Ach release c) binding to calcium receptorsExplanation / Answer
Answer 56 & 57
Stimulation of ganglionic cells occur in our eyes when GLUTAMATE production occurs in graded manner from rods and cones of retina.
But if the level of glutamate production increases it may cause retinal disease as the excess amount of glutamate is toxic to retinal neurons.
Stimulation of ganglionic cells occur in our eyes when GLYCINE production increases that means increased production of glycine had little effect on puff evoked cell excitatory post-synaptic currents.
Dopamine; had direct impact on cAMP level as it elevate ganglion cell cAMP levels in-situ by activating dopamine receptors.

Answer 59
When hair cells inside our ear are stimulated the ion involved is potassium ion.
Inner hair cells of ear are directly responsible for sending the signal into the brain which is converted into sound that we can hear.
In the inner hair cells of ear "stereocilia" (in pairs) are present and these are connected to each other via voltage gated channels and in the stereocilia their presents voltage gated potassium channel.
When tectorial membrane moves down on the hair cell it causes pressure on hair cells and causes bending of hair cells due to which potassium gated channels get opens.
Endolymph surrounds the hair cells which is rich in potassium ions when potassium gated ion channels get open it causes in-flow of potassium ions in the hair cells which causes increase in membrane potential. Once the membrane potential get increases it causes opening of calcium gated ion channels and in-flow of calcium ions. These calcium ions activates the neurotransmitters to send signal to the brain and hence we can hear the sound.
Answer 60.
BOTOX is used for cosmetic purpose and its mode of action is blocking the release of acetylcholine which causes reduction in muscle contraction.
