For this week's discussion forum you will critically analyze how individuals and groups through socialization or re-socialization are affected and affect at least one of the following:

Social structures (gender, family, religion, etc.)

Culture and/or subcultures

Inequality

Language

To begin, briefly describe--in your own words--what socialization is. If you are discussing re-socialization, you will define and describe this. It might be easier if you use examples or personal experiences/narratives to define and describe this term.

Next, define and describe what factor you are analyzing and how it relates to socialization. For instance, you might be interested in how groups are socialized through religious language or culture, or you might be interested in how groups re-socialize new members of subcultures. You may also want to use a theoretical perspective to discuss how groups are socialized through language to accept or reject inequality.

Your overall post should use critical thought and application. Some things to consider: would you argue the interaction is problematic, does it cause social harm? Is interaction beneficial, does it promote social good? Why do you think this? Can this be changed? If so, how?

Explanation / Answer

Socialization is the process wherein the norms and rules that bind a society are initiated and integrated within an individual of the certain group, and is taught to them, and is in turn taught by them.

It is a continual process which is done so for the sustainance of the culture and the roots of the society to uphold it.

Families are social structures that are a consequence of the process of socialization. Families teach the Infants and make them learn the sundry norms of the society which help them integrate with the society.

For instance, the norm of not breaking rules and obeying the parents orders which every child in a family is taught and roles and functions of each family member, which exists in continuity.

These interactions are rudimentary as they bide the people, and make them abiding citizen with a moral compass. Although, there are many norms and rituals which aren't the best for the soeicty but are informally taught and believed in, which do more harm than good, like the collective role of the woman in a family.

These can be changes by breaking misnomers and spreading awareness.
