Explanation / Answer

A problem is something which is not clear to understand, not stable and involves lots of uncertainty. A challenge on the other hand is very clear, visible and invites one to fight through a contest or program.

I find the current education system as one of the most challenging issues in the society which people both the parents and students face. It’s because there are lots of educational syllabuses, different kinds of schools, different types of infrastructure etc. The educational system also places more stress in terms of homework, intelligent tests, uniform material and delivery for people from various backgrounds, knowledge and skills. This could be explained through structural functionalism theory which suggests that society consists of different parts that functions together to promote solidarity and stability. Education should be common for all including the syllabus, material, delivery and assessment and only then students can be assessed uniformly when they go for Higher education.

The second important challenge that people face is employment. With the increase in industrialisation, mechanisation, automation and demanding skills, people are struggling to get a job. It becomes more difficult for the people who are already in a job and lose the job all of a sudden. The challenge with people today is that many people compete for a single job thus challenging people to prepare and perform better. This could be explained with the help of Conflict theory that suggests that the society has limited resources and many people fight for this. The order is maintained by power and domination. It could be overcome by creating more human based jobs as automation makes more people jobless. Government should also create avenues where more people can work.
