Question
Facebook has been under a microscope about people's privacy. In a recent article from BBC news, they reported that Facebook's technology had a "bug" that affected millions of users by automatically posting everything as public posts. This bug was active for a few days in May and was not handled until a week later. This "bug" could have deeply affected users all across Facebook, essentially betraying their privacy. Pairing these events with the recent Cambridge Analytica scandal, its clear that Facebook needs to address these problems with the correct actions.

Do you think we get what we deserve by using Facebook in the first place? It was noted that people started leaving the site when the Cambridge scandal was first at play, but it was not a significant amount of users. Does this mean that uses are just enabling these privacy scandals?

What facebook gives us and how it should be treated has many different arguement. One view is that it has become an infrastructure in 21st century and it shouldsbe treated as utilities like drinking water , telecommunication etc that means it must be regulated by government. Those who favor this view considers facebook as an important element of Individual's as well as businesses . They consider it basic necessity. However , other view is that it is not an utility , it is just an app that enable people to interact and have recreation of some kind. They are against the view of considering it as utilities . They draw parallels between television cable and facebook , just to prove it is a kind of recreational and interactive platform and not a utilities.
Facebook in USA has started showing downward trends even before such scandals , which aggravated after scandals with hashtag , #delete facebook , people in large no. Deleting facebook permanently. However , such no was very miniscule and it is sure that facebook is going to be there . Even if US and Europe shows downward trend , china and india have huge potential for new user as still most of its people are not on facebook.
Then what will happen to peoples privacy ??
