Explanation / Answer

The use of the antidepressant for treating major depressive disorder has been long debated over. various researches have shown the positive effect of these drugs on treating the major depressive disorder. However, some of the researches have concluded that improvement in medical condition is not due to drug chemical composition but due to the placebo effect.
After watching this video, I would say drugs should be used only to treat the severe depressive disorders while mild disorders be treated with placebo and recommending physical exercise and providing proper counseling.

The research is not very conclusive and to reach a conclusion more diverse set of finding needs to be correlated . Moreover, researches that have shown the effectiveness of drugs should also be taken into account before coming to a consensus on the effectiveness of drugs.

FDA also follows a standard format to check the effectiveness and thus the effectiveness of drugs cannot be negated in totality. However, specific research must be initiated to develop the most effective mechanism to treat the depressive disorder by combining the placebo and chemical drugs.
