Explanation / Answer

1. Psychology is defined as a scientific study of mental processes, experiences and
behaviour in different contexts using systematic methods.  It uses methods of biological and social sciences to obtain data systematically and analyses the data so that it can be organized as a system of knowledge.
For instance , psychologists are concerned with a varsity of mental processes or activities of the mind and brain, related to cognition which are used in operations like thinking, problem solving, decision making, memory etc. By studying processes like how individuals remember a series of words in the correct order through methods such as experiments, a psychologist can use the information or ‘data’ gathered in the study of a representative group of people to make inferences about the way memory operates, what are factors which help and what factors intervene in the recall of the stored information.
