Question

The Westphalian nation-state model has three main principles: (1) the principle that each state has sovereignty over its territory and domestic affairs, to the exclusion of all external powers, (2) the principle of non-interference in another country’s domestic affairs, and (3) the principle that each state, no matter how large or small, is equal in international law. Some experts have argued that today's world has moved or is moving beyond that model.

Assuming that latter premise is true, what activities or actions are driving these changes? What is the next step in the evolution of our societies? Do you believe governments around the world be overwhelmed by this new environment?

How will they adapt to meet the constellation of new challenges and opportunities? Will authority become increasingly decentralized? After considering the previous questions, explain what importance leadership plays in this new system. How can it help guide countries, corporations, organizations, and institutions to necessary reform?

Explanation / Answer

Looking at the contemporary world, and the manner in which certain organizations and issues as well as their roles have played out, it would be safe to make the assumption that we are, indeed, living in a post westphilian world.

That is, of course, not to imply that the nation states and their roles and demarcated boundaries have disintegrated, but it does imply that their these said boundaries have become blurry with the onset of the many treaties and alliances as well as global organizations that have germinated under the hood of Globalization.

Although, alliances did exist before, there was not the pertinent interfering in the matters of the others state, but now it seems as thought some major players use these alliances as means of power to overrule over one another, which leads to the point that we have been leading a post westphilian era.

Leadership has always been an essential componenet in all of history and current affairs. Leaders have the capability to make masses mimic their actions. For instance, hitler drove an entire empire towards the brink of exhaustion. And now we have the hovering presence of Trump, whose leadership style relates to that of an ignorant truant, who has no idea of how to run a country.

Monkey see monkey do, could not have been truer, and leaders have the power to shape the perspective and view of an entire society. If we look back at what Hobbes said, authority is required for the efficient allocation of resources, but what happens when thst authority is corrupt. Decentralization won't trylu help, but create more chaos in a world of existent chaos. Leaders of true grit and value seem to be the hour of need, but all seems rosy in theory, but almost always seems to fail in praxis when it comes to this sphere.

This new environment can be definitely pegged down as one of the most confusing environments, due to the simple reason that within the Westphilian age, there was a sense of sovereignty and control of ones nation state affairs, but now, there seems to be a hiatus with the sense of overlapping and overshadowing of control, which has led to Power politics and an individual nation state, which hwas earlier responsible for its own affairs, now observed sundry external factors pulling at its strings.

For instance, if we are to consider the world order, and The US at that, we can see that US has no restrictions on what it can or cannot do.
