Question

Some say individuals with psychological disorders are qualitatively different from other people, whereas others say they just differ in degree, or quantitatively, from "normal." To be "qualitatively different" is to differ in type or category (as in apples versus oranges, or men versus women). If we're considering only quantitative differences, we might discuss which apple is larger, which is sweeter, etc. (or we could consider intelligence as a way in which people differ quantitatively).

Make both of these cases, using information in this chapter about two disorders. (That is, argue first that Disorder A is qualitatively different from “normal,” then that Disorder A is quantitatively different from “normal.” Next, do the same for Disorder B, making both the quantitative and qualitative arguments.)
