a) Angele has always been a very clean and neat person. She just went to college and now had to live with a roommate. Angele reports that her roommate is not messy, but is just not as clean as Angele would like. Angele states that she vacuums their floor and wipes all of the furniture (including her roommate’s desk) with disinfectant spay once day. The whole process takes her about 2 hours. She also puts a special cover on her bed so that “germs won’t get in it.”
b) Tamika comes to a psychology clinic with complaints of poor concentration. As she was talking with the psychologist, she spoke very rapidly and it was difficult to follow her train of thought. Tamika reported that she felt invincible and had not slept for 3 days since she had been very busy with various tasks. She also reported that in the past, she had frequently experienced periods of time that she felt “down”.
c)Shakira gets nervous when other people watch her eat lunch. She is worried that her behavior will catch the attention of others and that they might mock her and make fun of the way she eats. This fear typically forces her to eat in her office rather than in the staff room, and she continually declines invitations to go out for dinner.
d) For months, as Len drives to work, he has been plagued by worries that an airplane will fall from the sky and crash into his car. Even though he is distressed over these obsessive thoughts, he cannot seem to get the image out of his head of the plane bursting into flames and of thoughts of how he will frantically try to avoid the crash. He would imagine this happening over and over and even though he tried as hard as he could he couldn’t make the thought go away. Despite this, Len is able to ride planes with no problems.

a) Angele has obsessive compulsive disorder. She does not bother about the amount of time it takes for her to clean her roommate's stuff because she is very much obsessed with cleanliness. She goes out of her way to stay clean and expects everybody to be like that.
b) Tamika has major depression. She feels really low and is very anxious in talking most of tthe time. She has not been sleeping well and often feels invisible. These are the symptoms of major depression.
c) Shakira has social anxiety disorder because her symptoms include anxiety in social circles wherein she is very anxious about what people will think about her eating style.
d) Len has specific phobia. It is an anxiety disorder that amounts to irrational fear. Here Len has an irrational fear that the plane might rash into his car and explode.
