Explanation / Answer

Listening is one of the most important skills which one needs to develop in one's life in order to succeed in one's life. It could be one's professional life or personal life. Listening is personal unless the speaker is able to persuade. Listening becomes really difficult because of one's physiological, psychological, emotional and social barriers.
When one is not interested in the subject that they are listening to, one wouldn't listen. On the other hand, if one doesn't like the one who delivers the speech or engaged in conversation, one wouldn't listen. The reverse is also true where if the speaker is able to persuade the listener with the speech, one might listen.
Language is one of the most important barriers and the knowledge level to process the information is yet another factor in determining one's listening skills. Only when one understands the language they will be able to process the information thus deciding to listen.
Psychological barriers such as emotional imbalance, mental stress and stereotyping etc. will play a major role in listening. Most of the time, the listener is biased towards the message that they receive thus preventing themselves from listening properly.
